Spring Update from Mare Rouge

2020 has been an amazing year so far for Potter & Clay Ministries. So far this year, we have distributed 175 water filters in Mare Rouge and surrounding communities. That is HUGE.

That’s 175 families with access to clean drinking water. Filters combat illnesses like Typhoid - of which clinics in our area have already reported seeing less cases since filter distribution began. You can read more about our filter program here!

Jonas (left) and Mackendi (right) are an instrumental part of our filter program. They coordinate with communities, assemble and distribute bucket filters, and provide home visits to ensure proper and continued use!

Potter & Clay’s formula program is currently providing formula for 15 babies each week. We began this year with the idea that we would have 10 babies in P&C’s program. However, some generous friends have stepped up and committed to supporting this life-saving program monthly.

We would love to be able to continue growing this program when families come to us with a need. If you would like to make a difference by providing formula for a family in Potter & Clay’s program, you can do so here.

Moms, dads, and babies come to Potter & Clay each week to receive formula, education, and wellness checks. Tuesdays are some of the cutest days of the week around here!

Just like the rest of the world, our past weeks have been interrupted by the arrival of COVID-19 in Haiti. On the same day Haiti announced its first case, they closed the airport that same night. We have spent the past few weeks preparing for its arrival here in our area.

To date, we have provided 245 hand-washing stations through out our community, as well as educating about how COVID-19 spreads and precautions that can be taken. We also purchased 500 masks from an organization in Gonaives, Haiti. We will do as much as we can, as long as we can.

Community members provided their own buckets, and we provided the spickets to give families an easier way to keep hands washed and prevent COVID-19.

As we know for everyone, COVID-19 has brought unexpected costs as we strive to help others protect themselves as much as possible. If you would like to make a donation to help cover COVID-19 related costs, you can join us by doing so here.

Truthfully, Haiti has lived in a time of crisis for years. As we prepare for the impacts of COVID-19, we all have been reminded that Potter & Clay’s work in our area can’t stop and if anything it’s more important now than ever. Access to water, clean water, formula, and all of our programs are taking a cue from our Haitian neighbors. We can’t stop, we won’t give up, and we’ll always work and pray for a better tomorrow for our neighbors.

From all of us at Potter & Clay - we are praying for your families’ safety and well-being! If there’s a way we can pray with you specifically, please let us know.

In Him,

Jordan & Rebecca
